Cream Rises in $1million Inglis Sprint: Getta Good Feeling Wins (2026)

Getta Good Feeling, a So You Think filly, proved her mettle in the $1 million VRC Inglis Sprint at Flemington, showcasing her talent amidst a competitive field of 15. This race was a testament to the cream rising to the top, as Getta Good Feeling, trained by Danny O'Brien, demonstrated her exceptional form.

Last spring, she made a remarkable ascent, winning the Group II VRC Edward Manifold Stakes and the Group II VRC Wakeful Stakes, with a strong showing in the G1 Thousand Guineas in between. She was the overwhelming favorite for the Group I VRC Oaks, but the marathon distance proved challenging, and she finished sixth.

However, Getta Good Feeling returned with a vengeance in the Inglis Sprint, fresh and ready to showcase her true potential. Under the guidance of jockey Billy Egan, she displayed her class, pouncing on her rivals in the final stretch to win by a half-length. Her victory over the Farnan colt Nashville Jack, who had an impressive second-place finish in the $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight slot race, was a testament to her talent.

But here's where it gets intriguing. Getta Good Feeling, the beaten favorite in the Oaks, returned to the 1200-meter distance, showcasing an outstanding turn of foot. Her stable representative, Matt Harrington, had high praise, stating, "She's a high-calibre horse, and we've always had immense faith in her. If you stopped the Oaks at the 200-meter mark, she would have been the standout filly of the spring."

Harrington further explained, "She came into this race a bit under the radar. The best filly in Victoria was in action today, and after that disappointing day, we gave her time to recover. She's back, and she's better than ever."

Getta Good Feeling's performance over 1200 meters was exceptional, and her connections are confident she can excel at longer distances. "Probably won't see her over 2500 meters again, but over a mile or 2000, she's a true champion," Harrington added.

Getta Good Feeling's journey is an inspiring one. She was purchased for $525,000 at the Inglis Easter Sale by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock and now runs for Pinecliff Racing. She was a successful pinhook, having been bought for $400,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale by Suman Hedge Bloodstock. With over $1 million in earnings and a record of three wins and four placings from eight starts, she is a true star.

Getta Good Feeling is a three-quarter sister to Group III winner Elliptical and is the best of four winners from four foals to race from Marquise da Rossa. Marquise da Rossa, a winning Testa Rossa mare, was purchased by Yulong for $675,000, and her yearling filly by Alabama Express sold for $360,000 at Magic Millions.

And this is the part most people miss... Getta Good Feeling's story continues with an exciting twist. She was covered last spring by Dundeel, a champion son of High Chaparral, which means the resulting offspring will be a three-quarter sibling to Getta Good Feeling herself. This adds an intriguing layer to her legacy and the potential for future success.

Getta Good Feeling's victory in the Inglis Sprint is a testament to her talent and the hard work of her connections. Her story is an inspiring one, and her future looks bright.
